Calgary Family & Newborn Photography That Celebrates Connection, Adventure, and the Moments That Matter Most
As a mom of two, a wife, and a Calgary family photographer, I understand just how quickly these seasons of life pass. I also know that parents are often the ones behind the camera, capturing memories while rarely appearing in them.
My passion is helping families slow down, connect, and create beautiful memories together through a relaxed and enjoyable photography experience. Whether we're exploring the Alberta Badlands, chasing sunset in the mountains, cuddling your newest little one at home, or getting creative during one of my signature Paint Mini Sessions, my goal is to capture genuine emotion, authentic connection, and the moments you'll want to remember forever.
My Paint Mini Sessions have quickly become a favourite among families because they take the pressure off traditional family photos. Instead of focusing on perfect poses and smiles, children are encouraged to play, create, and explore while I document the laughter, connection, and joyful moments that naturally unfold. The result is a collection of images that feel playful, artistic, and uniquely you.
Planning family photos doesn't have to be stressful. From location selection and styling guidance to helping little ones feel comfortable in front of the camera, I'll guide you through every step of the process so your session feels effortless, fun, and meaningful.
To help you prepare, I've created a collection of complimentary resources, including my What to Wear Guide and Family Adventure Guide, designed to help you feel confident and excited for your session.
What to Expect and How to Plan Your Session
1. Is there a best time of day for family photos/portraits? We are concerned about our kid’s nap schedule.
The ideal time for a family and baby photographer in Calgary session is 1-2 hours before sunset, offering soft, flattering light. In autumn and winter, this is between 3:30-5:00 PM, while in spring and summer, it’s 6:30-8:30 PM. Midday (10:00 AM-3:00 PM) can produce harsh shadows, especially on sunny days. Overcast days are more flexible, and I can suggest locations with natural shade, like tree lines or mountains, to accommodate your children’s schedules.
2. How long will the photoshoot take? My kids don’t last long in front of the camera.
My sessions typically last 30-45 minutes, extending to an hour if everyone’s enjoying it. As a Calgary child photographer, I prioritize fun and flexibility, working with your kids’ personalities to capture high-quality photos while keeping the experience enjoyable.
3. Do you offer adventure family sessions?
Yes, adventure sessions are my favorite! Alberta’s landscapes, like Drumheller, the Rocky Mountains, or the Bowden sunflower maze, make stunning backdrops for a newborn photoshoot Calgary or family session. My free “Family Adventure Guide” helps you plan a memorable outing that doubles as a photoshoot.
4. wE don’t like posed photos, especially with the kids. how does this work?
I blend gentle direction with natural moments to create authentic photos. Even “candid” shots benefit from slight posing, but I encourage you to relax, play, and connect with your kids for the most genuine smiles in your baby photoshoot.
5. We want to hire you, what’s next?
A $200 non-refundable deposit and signed contract secure your booking. Once confirmed, I’ll send my “Family Adventure Guide” to help you prepare for your session with this photographer for baby pictures.
6. How many photos do we get in your package? Are there additional charges for downloading images?
Every session includes 40-60 edited, high-resolution digital images, a print release, and a private online gallery. There are no additional fees for downloading your images, though you can order prints directly from my shop. This makes me one of the trusted newborn photographers in Calgary for value.

Yes, your deposit is non-refundable. If you need to reschedule within 2 weeks of your session, the deposit is then forfeited, to respect everyone’s time. If you need to reschedule a session shortly after booking, the fee will be forfeited, as long as I have space in my schedule for the alternate date. Rescheduling must be within same calendar year. A new retainer will be made if the date change is made within 2 weeks before the original agreed upon date.
10. How long will it take to receive our gallery?
Your online gallery will be ready within 6 weeks. You’ll be able to send all your family and friends access and there is no charge for viewing or downloading images.
11. How do you deliver the photos?
All photos are delivered as high-resolution JPEGs via a private online gallery, perfect for your family lifestyle photography keepsakes.
12. What iF it rains or snows?
Unpredictable weather is part of the job, unfortunately. I will check in with you 24-48 house before your session to confirm your location and the weather availability. All rescheduled sessions due to pour weather is out of the photographer’s control. Rest assured I will only reschedule if necessary.
13. What iF my children don’t cooperate?
It’s normal for kids to be unpredictable. I set realistic expectations and use play-based cues to capture great shots. Planning a small reward post-session can help. With experience as a Calgary family photographer, I’m confident we’ll get beautiful photos, even if some kids are shyer than others.
